Dr. Boloz has presented keynotes and workshops across the United States. Presently he primarily works with schools in the southwestern states. Keynote
Title: Be Dangerous

This presentation is valuable for all staff and parents. Mixing lecture and poetry Dr. Boloz discusses the importance of adults in the lives of children. Everyone can make a difference by being dangerous. Which child's life will you touch?

Overview:
This lecture is intended for anyone who works with children. It draws on over 40 years of working with at-risk students. This presentation intertwines research, personal experience and poetry and attempts to highlight the importance we all carry within.

Title: Teaching Students to Write a Great Personal Narrative

Many teachers have heard something about the 6+1 traits. But how many people realize that writing instruction supports student growth in reading? This presentation helps the educator to examine the research related to the writing process, the writers’ workshop, and provides a step-by-step format for teaching an effective personal narrative.

Title: Enhancing Meaningful Student Engagement

Feel as if you are the only one working hard within your classroom? This presentation discusses the establishment of powerful classroom routines that encourage active involvement and increase student learning. Learn effective methods for organizing your lessons. This workshop will expose students to the reading and writing process and will provide participants with theory and practice. The participants will be exposed to alternative strategies for teaching the basic skills in meaningful ways.

Title: The Writing Process

The National Reading Panel (2000) identified student writing as one of 31 areas which held great promise to enhance growth in reading. Unfortunately, promised follow-up committees never convened to finish their work. The new Common Core Standards have revived interest in the power of student writing. Come and share your experiences and ask questions as we examine the research and effective literacy practice in English Language Learner Classroom.
